Flamenco is an incredibly passionate yet gentle dance that originated in Spain.

The dancer is an integral part of Flamenco. She is called "bailaora" Flamenco is a complicated dance, not just technically but emotionally. Flamenco is meaningless without emotion. Flamenco dance is associated with suffering, anguish, sadness. Difficulties are the driving force required for creativity here. Thus the age of dancers, unlike other dance styles, flamenco dancers are typically older. The performer's entire body literally twists and twirls. With one turn, one glance, one hand wave, a dancer can tell more than it would be possible to express verbally. Every line on the face is in incredible tension; when I watched the performance, I couldn't find a better description than to say that the dancer falls into a state of trance. For musical accompaniment, guitar, dancer's heels, singing, rhythm (clicks and claps, drum or another hard surface) are used.

Every year, Seville (Spain) hosts a grand flamenco festival - "Bienal de flamenco." A wide variety of flamenco performances can be seen at this event. This is a truly fascinating sight. On the day of the festival, Seville becomes the heart of Spain.

SEVILLE, SPAIN - MAY 2017: Young women dance flamenco on Plaza de Espana

The best place to see Flamenco is in a "tablao" - a small cafe where Flamenco is performed not for tourists, but for the locals themselves, where a soul and traditions are preserved. The distance between the performer and the audience is minimal: to emerge in the energy and passion.

Flamenco dance initially originated from the gypsy people roaming around the world. However, they never knew how they reached Spain.
Oddly enough, this dance did not leave anyone indifferent: everyone danced, young and old. The songs and dances conveyed the history and pain of the people, which the future generation inherited with mother's milk.
There is a statement that any person can learn Flamenco, but only the Spaniards have this dance in their blood, in their DNA code and temperament.

At such moments of contact with the traditions and mentality of another country, we become better. We learn to love, respect, and understand. I see your dance, bare heart, wet face, and dress like a second skin repeats all movements, creating circles on the floor between the heels ...

Flamenco ...is like the flams of phoenix. In the flamenco dancer, this eternal flame burns to the last, igniting the hearts of the audience ...
